Creativity Challenge

This week we have been working on a creativity challenge. We have been working on opening a box with a feeling inside. First had to get into a group with 2 girls and 2 boys, we we had to work with the people that we had never work with before. In our group there was Hannah, Fran, Jack and Max.

Once we had been told what to do we made a list and We all had to decide on what feeling we were going to choose.  We had a great picture of what we were going to do.

Then Fran went to get the supplies that we needed to make the box while Hannah, Jack and Max made a plan for what are jobs would be.
When Fran got back we started to make the box.

1st we glued red paper to each side of the box and made sure we printed anger emojis.
2nd we glued the anger emojis to the inside of the box.
3rd we made the fire out of crepe paper and glued that to the bottom of the box.
4th we made little patches of glitter on the inside of the box.
5th we made little lightning bolts and stuck them to the top of the box.
6th Fran went crazy and glittered the whole sides of the box!
7th We printed some anger (from Inside out) photos from inside out and stuck them on the sides of the box. Then we decided we were done!

Then we were allowed to put our boxes in the other classroom so that we could do a chalk talk, which is where you are silent and write what you think the emotion is.

I think that we need to do more challanges in COLAB  like team building activities and things so that we get comfortable with working with boys and girls.

Rippa Nationals

Fun fact. I’ve never wanted to do rippa to be honest, but as soon as Mr R dragged me into trying out for rippa I actually had heaps of fun. I never thought that I would actually get in but when I found out I did I went crazy!

When we went to regionals I was so nervous the other team lost quarterfinals but we won the whole tournament and got to go to Nationals! Thanks Mr R I really appreciate that you push me into doing new sports and pushing me to be my best that I can be.

Anyway, I am so excited for Rippa Nationals. We get to stay at backpackers and we are staying 2 or 3 nights. The best thing is no parents stay in our cabins and we get to bunk with our best friends. YAY! I think we have a really good team this year and I hope we win. This is my first time doing rippa and i’m really excited, i've heard a lot about last year and it sounds fun, let's just hope that I don’t get homesick!

My Camp Photo

The Weeping Willow

Green Pastures Camp

Man that waterside was awesome! My class Colab were in Wanganui at Green Pastures Camp.

As you go down, you get this HUGE rush of adrenaline, and before you know it you are flying through the air and you hit the lake with a big splash. It's so much fun.

Then Mrs Liddell blew the whistle and I got a little angry because I thought that we would have to go inside and have a dorm inspection (by the way that is very boring). She went on and on and then I heard something about free time. What she was actually saying was that we could use the kayaks and paddle-boards in free time. I was so exited.

Once she had finished talking I sprinted down and grabbed a kayak and a paddle and I was first one in the lake. I went straight to the umbrella trees that looked magical. It was a beautiful view of the farm in the sunlight. I soon found out that I wasn't so good at controlling the kayak but paddle boards were way more fun so I went on one of them instead. Duncan, Rhys's dad, pushed me off so that made it even more fun! I floated in the middle of the lake for a bit until I got cold. I thought to myself, 'I hope I come back here again.' It was so much fun, I would recommend that you go there one day.

The beginning

In the beginning

As I walked into Karaka block, yellow and black safety tape was everywhere and I mean everywhere. So as I was only just getting use to that, Mr Robertson handed me a pamphlet about what we had to do. I decided that I would get out my stationary and put it into my tote tray.

After a while I saw Nina and Emily and that was awesome because they are both really good friends of mine so we sat down together with our tote trays and put everything in them. When we were done we filled in the form about ourselves then we did all these activities. Then I realised what the saftey tape was for! we were designing our classroom and that would explain why it said “Grand designs” everywhere.

I went over to meet the teachers even though I already knew who they were. So we have Ms Gordon, Mrs Dennison, Mrs Liddell, Mr Robertson and the teacher Aide Vicky.

Later on in the day we talked about what makes a great learning environment and we learnt a bit about the teachers. So my first day being a year six was pretty good and I can't wait for the year ahead.
